Affirmations for Wedding-Planning

Lately I've been extremely stressed out when it comes to wedding planning (and it doesn't help that I'm now in the last 1/3 of my quarter for school when things are heating up a lot), especially in regards to decision-making!  I decided to write down these affirmations to remember when I'm starting to freak out and doubt.  Hopefully they will help!
  • Our wedding does not need to be the most fun, beautiful, or unique wedding.  Our wedding only needs to be about us finally getting married, and an expression of us.
  • Just because Person X is spending $X on X wedding-related thing does not mean that I need to (this could be more OR less).
  • I cannot allow myself to second-guess making any wedding decisions (dress, photographer, etc.).  Doing so will accomplish nothing.  I only need to stick to my choices (those I have made and those I will make).
  • I cannot please everyone when it comes to our wedding. If someone does not like the food or the location (or something else entirely), that is something that they need to deal with.  Our guests should be coming to celebrate our marriage, not to cast approval/disapproval on certain decisions.
  • Honestly, the details are not as important as I make them out to be.  I would get married to Eddie anywhere, even in the parking lot of a 7-11.  I'm just happy to finally be getting married to him! :)
Do you have any affirmations that help during the wedding-planning process?

    1. Hey Jessica! I don't know if I've already recommended The Conscious Bride's Wedding Planner to you...it's written by a Pitzer grad and a great resource for sorting through the many emotions that arise from wedding planning and getting married.

    2. I like this post a lot, and hope that it really does help you stay grounded in those more stressful moments. I'm praying for you two to sense clarity and peace as you make these bigger decisions in the near future. All of the places seem to have great personality, and I know that no matter where it ends up being, it will end up being wonderful, you will look lovely, and it will no doubt be a joyful celebration of something super amazing. I need to remember, too, to just take it one day at a time, to take time to think and analyze but also to just choose and trust that the best can be made out of any situation I choose. Don't forget to spend time doing things that help you to de-stress, too. That may help provide some clarity once you come back to the decision-making =)

    5. Hey Jessica - I think it's worth the money to buy it, actually (and this coming from a huge fan of the library [read: cheapskate reader]!).

Used copies are under $4 on Amazon. But no pressure! I would only get it if it looks like a helpful resource for where you are now.
